Chinese mainland reports 16 new COVID-19 cases, all from overseas

The Chinese mainland recorded 16 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, all from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Tuesday.

No suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were newly reported, the commission said.

Eleven new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Monday and a total of 387 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,788, and the death toll stands at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,788 (10,207 recoveries, 193 deaths)

Macao: 48 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 937 (859 recoveries, 9 deaths)
