COVID-19 death toll in U.S. reached 500,000 in about a year

The United States crossed the staggering milestone of 500,000 COVID-19 deaths. This comes just one year since the first death was recorded on February 29, 2020 in California. The half a million lives lost are about equal to the number of Americans killed in the World Wars and Vietnam War combined.
