China calls for de-escalation after EU threatens sanctions against Myanmar military

China on Tuesday called on the international community to create a sound external environment for Myanmar to properly resolve the differences.

"Whatever actions taken by the international community shall contribute to Myanmar's political and social stability, promote its peace and reconciliation, and avoid escalating the conflict and complicating the situation," said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin at a regular press conference.

The EU has threatened to impose sanctions against Myanmar's military and withhold developmental aid.
