Hong Kong is expected to require district councilors to take an oath to uphold the Basic Law and pledge allegiance to the government. The city's Secretary for Mainland and Constitutional Affairs, Eric Tsang, unveiled the details on Tuesday, following a call issued by the central government that "patriots govern Hong Kong." Those who violate the oaths will be barred from election for five years.
