At least 200 employees were quarantined after a cluster infection of COVID-19 broke out in a home appliance factory in western Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia.

Fourteen of the workers tested positive for COVID-19, of which eight were contracted with the more transmissible variants as of Wednesday, the German company Miele said.

Most of the infection happened in the workshop and the factory has now suspended operation.
