On February 25, Zhang Guimei was recognized as one of the role models for poverty alleviation, and received a national honorary title from President Xi Jinping at a national commendation conference.
Zhang Guimei is a teacher who has dedicated 40 years of her life to helping and motivating young girls from impoverished families in the mountainous areas of Yunnan Province to pursue higher education.
