The leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is the strong political and organizational guarantee for China's extreme poverty eradication achievements, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.

He made the remarks in his speech at a national commendation conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to honor contributors to the country's poverty eradication work.

China sent elite forces from the Party to the main battlefield to fight poverty, Xi said. The country has selected and dispatched a total of 255,000 village-based working teams and more than 3 million first secretaries of CPC village committees and village-based poverty eradication officials, who fought on the frontline of extreme poverty eradication together with millions of local officials.
