NGOs in France have called for a suspension to trawler fishing in affected areas as more than 400 dolphins have been found dead stranded on the coast since the beginning of January. "The issue at stake is the status of the species," warned a specialist from the Pelagis Observatory in La Rochelle. "We have to suspend fishing in sensitive areas, for at least a month, some recommend more, to put an end to this slaughter!"
