Malaysia on Saturday received the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines developed by Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac.

Under a previous agreement, the Malaysian government bought the liquid semi-finished product from Sinovac, and a local company finalized production in the country.

The vaccine will be made available locally after obtaining approval from Malaysia's pharmaceutical regulator, authorities said.
