Our poverty eradication campaign focuses more on self-development capabilities, including stimulating endogenous power. That is, poverty eradication requires a change of attitude. It is mainly to give the poor the will to get out of poverty, rather than forcing them to do so.
Second, it also takes capability. We assist the poor to access training on technology and managerial expertise to better sustain poverty eradication industries, or land the jobs they want in the labor market. This can sustain poverty eradication efforts.
Our target is not only about meeting the poor populations’ basic daily necessities, providing them opportunities and safeguarding their dignity, it’s also about blocking the intergenerational transmission of poverty, which is of utter importance in poverty eradication.
