With the coming of spring, wintersweet has begun to wither while the plum blossoms have begun to flourish in Guyan Scenic Area of Hongze Lake in Huai'an City, east China's Jiangsu Province, attracting people there to enjoy the beautiful scenery of spring.

In terms of botanical classification, wintersweet and plums are not the same. Wintersweet is a species of a flowering plant in the genus Chimonanthus of the family Calycanthaceae, and its color is mainly yellow. However, the plum blossom belongs to the genus Prunus of the family Rosaceae, and its color varies from white to pink to dark red. The wintersweet starts to flower around November and wither around the following March in China, while plum blossoms bloom from February to April.
