China is willing to provide COVID-19 vaccine aid to Tajikistan, contributing to the building of a global community of health for all, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday.

Xi made his remarks during a phone conversation with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Since last year, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented global changes in a century, the people of China and Tajikistan have worked together in solidarity, Xi said.

He noted fruitful cooperation results have been yielded in various fields between the two sides, and the cooperation in fighting the epidemic has become a highlight.

The two sides support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, which fully reflects the high level development of the China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic partnership, Xi added.

"China firmly supports the Tajikistan side in strengthening the in-depth alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Tajikistan's national development strategy for the period up to 2030."

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi said, adding that China's reform and opening-up from a higher starting point will bring new opportunities for bilateral all-round cooperation.

He stressed that the two sides should coordinate and promote cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, investment, agriculture, connectivity and digital economy, and prioritize the construction of key projects for the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Xi said China will fully support Tajikistan's work in using the rotating presidency of the SCO to promote the organization towards achieving greater development at a new starting point.

Rahmon expressed greetings to the Chinese people and wished the Chinese people great success in the New Year and also warmly congratulated to the historic achievements China achieved in eradicating absolute poverty.

He also appreciated the important contribution China made to the global fight against the COVID-19 and thanked China for the valuable support given to Tajikistan in the fight against the COVID-19 and economic and social development.

Tajikistan is willing to work with China to continue to expand cooperation between the two countries in various fields in the spirit of good-neighborliness and friendship, to promote new developments in bilateral ties, Rahmon added.
