In a fight to the death that took 15 minutes, an heron ended up winning against a mole. The small rodent even fell to the floor several times but to no avail.

The hungry bird was spotted by Jens Stahl in Middelie, a village in the north of the Netherlands.

Jens said, "I saw the heron catch the mole before flying with him to a pool of water."

"Gray herons like this are not aggressive, but they eat everything. This one was making the mole wet so it was easier to swallow, although he dropped him a few times before swallowing the rodent whole - it took about 15 minutes in total."
