The Philippines has recorded six cases of the COVID-19 variant first discovered in South Africa, its health ministry said Tuesday.

Of the six new cases, three were detected locally and two from Filipinos returning from overseas. The origin of the last case was still being verified, the health ministry said.

Separately, the Philippines kicked off its COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Monday.
