Anziping Village in Heshui County, Qingyang City, northwest China's Gansu Province, has attracted an increasing number of gray herons, as the region's natural environment has continued to improve over the past few years.
The village sees flocks of herons migrating here every spring. The birds usually rest in their nests on top of trees or hover over the woods. Thirty nests and 50 herons have been spotted in the village.
Under second-class state protection in China, the gray heron prefers to live near water, and feeds on fish and shrimp.
