Literary and artistic works have played a vital role in poverty alleviation and will continue to help boost rural revitalization in the future, political advisor Fan Di'an said on Thursday.

Fan and six other political advisors met the press, in an event known as the Members' Corridor, before the start of the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Excellent literary works have an important role in pulling up spiritual strength, Fan, also the chairman of China Artists Association and president of Central Academy of Fine Arts, said, adding that many literary and art workers have visited rural areas, created a number of literary and artistic works to tell good stories about poverty alleviation, and struck a chord in the society.

China has made historic achievements by eradicating absolute poverty in 2020, and has unveiled a new chapter of rural revitalization to help revamp the countryside.

"Cultural revitalization is an integral part of comprehensively implementing China's rural revitalization strategy," Fan said. He added that literary and art workers can help construct rural civilization by researching rural cultural heritage and protecting rural landscape, especially valuable ancient villages and houses.

"The vast countryside has abundant traditional national handicrafts and intangible cultural heritage. We should bring new life to them and help the revitalization of rural cultural industries," Fan said. "In building beautiful countryside, we have to strengthen aesthetic design and construction to make beautiful countryside a longing home."
