National People's Congress (NPC) deputy Yuan Jing said the "Red Boat Spirit" has inspired Communist Party of China (CPC) members to push forward "the great aspiration and initial mission" when speaking at the Deputies' Corridor ahead of the fourth session of the 13th NPC on Friday in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Yuan, who works as a museum guide at Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall in Jiaxing, east China's Zhejiang Province, said her job allows her to be both a CPC history teller and witness.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. After 100 years, it has grown from a small party of some 50 members into the world's largest ruling party, with more than 90 million members.

The red boat resting on the Nanhu Lake represents the "Red Boat Spirit," highlighting pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication, she added.

In October 2017, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, visited the site in Jiaxing and delivered a speech. Yuan recalled that Xi called on everyone to stay true to the initial mission and carry forward with the "Red Boat Spirit."
