China will hold a global promotional event in central China's Hubei Province in April in order to honor local people for their heroic role in the fight against COVID-19, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced on Sunday on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing.
Next month marks one year since Wuhan, capital city of Hubei, exited lockdown. During China's battle against COVID-19, people in this city made great sacrifices to the national effort to contain the coronavirus, as well as major contributions to the global fight against the pandemic, Wang said.
Wang tendered his invitation for the special promotional event in Hubei next month, hoping this occasion can showcase the region's rebirth from ashes and bridge cooperation between Hubei and the world.
