At the UN Human Rights Council, 70 countries -- led by a representative from Belarus -- backed China for its policies on Hong Kong. Belarus said Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs and urged against external interference. Mr. Liu Huawen -- executive director of the Center for Human Rights Studies at the China Academy of Social Sciences, said the joint statement by the 70 countries is objective and fair.
