During CGTN ICON's livestream with the National Ballet of China, we received a question regarding the techniques that Chinese ballet might have introduced to the wider ballet art form. In answer, Director and Artistic Director of the National Ballet of China Feng Ying explained that many of the company's original pieces, such as "The Red Detachment of Women" and "Dunhuang," borrow movements from martial arts and the Taoist theory of yin and yang. As a combination of classical ballet and Chinese culture, the unique movements are China's contribution to the world of ballet.
