Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng met with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam and Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Ho Iat Seng respectively on Saturday afternoon in Beijing.

In the meetings, Han affirmed the work done by both SARs in the past year in preventing and controling the COVID-19 epidemic, relieving people's hardship and restoring the economy.

Han hoped Hong Kong SAR would continue to prioritize COVID-19 prevention and advance relevant social and economic work in that regard.

Han urged the Hong Kong SAR government to fully implement the decision made by the National People's Congress on improving the city's electoral system as well as the revisions by the NPC Standing Committee on Annex I and Annex II of the Basic Law, as part of the efforts to ensure that the practice of "One Country, Two Systems" is always on the correct path.

Han also urged Ho to take the central government's support for the development of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone as an opportunity and strive to play an active role in the country's building of the new development pattern by fostering the inclusive development in its economy.
