Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday stressed that cooperation should be the primary goal for both China and the United States.

He made the remarks during a virtual press conference on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing.

"As two countries with different social systems, China and the United States naturally have differences and disagreements," he said, adding that what matters most is to manage them effectively through candid communication to prevent strategic miscalculation and avoid conflict and confrontation.

China hopes the U.S. will quickly remove all its unreasonable restrictions on bilateral cooperation, he said.
