Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday expressed her satisfaction in the central government's efforts to improve Hong Kong's electoral system and implement the "patriots administering Hong Kong" principle.

In an interview with China Media Group (CMG), Lam said the introduction of national security law last year created a new situation for Hong Kong to change from chaos to order. By improving the electoral system of the HKSAR, political security is also guaranteed in the city, she told CMG.

A draft decision on improving the electoral system of the HKSAR was submitted last Friday to the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.

While talking about Hong Kong's future, Lam acknowledged the country's support for the HKSAR to develop into a hub of international aviation, of global scientific and technological innovation, and of cultural and artistic exchange in its 14th Five-Year Plan.

"Hong Kong has to seize the opportunities offered by the national plan in the next five years," the chief executive said.
