At this year's Two Sessions gathering, discussions on dual circulation and high-quality development are high on the agenda. CGTN interviewed Yang Yuanqing, a deputy to the National People's Congress and Lenovo chairman and CEO, about his insights on promoting intelligent transformation to help China upgrade its manufacturing industry.

CGTN: This year marks the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the world continues to undergo major changes unseen in a century due to the pandemic. What suggestions are you submitting this year?

Yang: If I can summarize my suggestions for the Two Sessions this year in one sentence, that is new IT enables the real economy and promotes the construction of a new pattern of dual circulation. On the one hand, the new IT enables the real economy to promote the intelligent transformation of all walks of life and achieve high-quality development. 

On the other hand, on the basis of the intelligent transformation, higher quality supply is used to promote and create consumer demand, stimulate the vitality of the super large-scale market, build a more solid foundation of internal circulation and make the circulation better and more smoothly.

As a result, Chinese companies can participate in the competition of international circulation through the circulation of supply chain and innovation chain, thus better promoting the high-quality development of our economy.

CGTN: How should we interpret the concept of new IT?  What role will it play in China's economic transformation?

Yang: Different from traditional Information Technology, new IT refers to Intelligent Transformation, which is the technology, service and solution based on "end-edge-cloud-network-intelligence" technological architecture to enable all walks of life to realize intelligent transformation. 

Currently, we are at a historical point where China's economic transformation cycle and global technological innovation cycle overlap. 

The application of new IT in all walks of life and acceleration of Intelligent Transformation will greatly improve the efficiency of technological innovation and the commercialization process of the whole economy and individual enterprises. 

It is the core factor for enterprises and industries to go through the dual cycle and achieve success in the intelligent era.

CGTN: The draft outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan also proposes to promote digital industrialization, and promote the deep integration of the digital economy and real economy. How can China upgrade its manufacturing industry?

Yang: The fourth industrial revolution has provided new opportunities for the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry. 

In the fields of the internet of things, edge computing, cloud computing, 5G, big data, artificial intelligence and other intelligent technologies leading the industrial revolution, China is basically on the same starting point with other countries, and we may also have comparative advantages in some aspects. 

Once these advanced intelligent technologies are combined with China's huge manufacturing industry, they will provide a new springboard for China's manufacturing industry to make up for its shortcomings, break through innovation and start its own brand. 

When the new IT enables the real economy and promotes intelligent transformation for all walks of life, it can make the decision-making results of enterprises more accurate and business processes more efficient, so as to promote innovation growth.
