These shocking and saddening images show a Sumatran elephant that was killed by a hunter's trap in Indonesia.

It was found dead in Alue Meuraksa Village in Aceh Province on March 5, 2021.

The male elephant, thought to be around 10 years old, died after his left front leg was caught in the hunting trap.

As the elephant's body had started to rot, officers suspect the body had been lying abandoned for around four weeks.
