The Chinese government is committed to improving the interprovincial on-spot reimbursement of medical bills policy, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said at a press conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday.
Speaking after the closing of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, Li said the issue of out-of-town people having to go back to their hometowns to settle medical bills is a problem that civil servants have to resolve.
To fully tackle the issue, the premier announced that "the government will extend the coverage of interprovincial on-spot reimbursement of outpatient bills by the end of 2021."
"By the end of next year, every county shall have at least one designated medical institution to settle interprovincial on-spot medical reimbursement, including outpatient bills," he added.
