In March 2021, Chinese lawmakers deliberated a draft decision on improving Hong Kong's electoral system during the Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress. Current and former leaders from the city are expressing support for the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong." That's the precept at the heart of changes to the electoral system in the special administrative region.
