China continues to prioritize employment in formulating macro policies this year with a target of creating more than 11 million new urban jobs, Premier Li Keqiang said at a press conference after the closing of the Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress held in Beijing on Thursday.

Faced with the pressure of an about 14-million-strong new labor force joining the market this year, China will make employment the top priority when it implements the policy of ensuring stability on six fronts and security in six areas, the premier said.

The six fronts are employment, the financial sector, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment and expectations. The six areas are job security, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments.

The policies issued last year to help employment will stay and other policies will also be implemented, Li said, noting the economic recovery will help boost jobs and in return, more jobs will stabilize the economy.

China aims to create more than 11 million new urban jobs in 2021 and it expects to "over-fulfill the target," he said.

Meanwhile, China's aging population of more than 260 million indicates new market demands, which means international enterprises have opportunities to offer their services and products in the country's open market, he said.
