Arbor Day: Picture stories of how generations of Chinese create forests from scratch
CGTN

An aerial view of S Saihanba Forest Farm, the world's largest man-made forest, captured on August 13, 2019. From July to August, Saihanba National Forest Park, located in Weichang County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, is regarded as a perfect summer resort with beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate.

On March 23, 2009, farmers in Xichuan, a county in the southwest of Henan Province, overcame many difficulties to plant trees. They want to build their "Saihanba Forest Farm" in Henan.

Arbor Day doesn't mean just planting trees. The trees need regular caring and protection in their first few years. Lin Yunyu, a forest ranger from Dafu Village in Pingtan County, Fuzhou, was taking care of young trees that were brought down by strong winds. This photo was taken on February 22, 2012.

Aerial seeding is a broadcast method of seeding. On June 9, 2020, a Y-5 aircraft was driven by a pilot from the air force, to spread seeds over the Tengger Desert in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The photo taken last August 31 shows an area of Shanting District of Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province that has been transformed from barren hills into mountains of flowers and fruits.
