Two imported cases of coronavirus variant B.1.525 have been detected in south China's Guangdong Province, the provincial center for disease control and prevention said in a statement on Sunday.

Gene sequencing analysis on Friday showed that the two patients, both asymptomatic cases, had the coronavirus variant B.1.525, which was first detected by genome sequencing in mid-December 2020 in Nigeria.
