A forest fire broke out in the city of Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Sunday afternoon with firefighters dispatched to put out the blaze, according to local authorities.

All the open fires on the western front of the fire site had been extinguished as of 6:30 a.m. on Monday, and the teams were clearing and guarding along the fire line.

There were still pockets of fires at the site, and firefighters were using water pumps, the wind and other tools to combat them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
