Over 1.5 million doses of China's Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Uruguay on Tuesday.

President Luis Lacalle Pou announced the suspension of compulsory school attendance and other restrictive measures amid a steep rise in COVID-19 cases.

With 3.4 million inhabitants, Uruguay has so far recorded 73,770 COVID-19 infections and 725 related deaths.
