All passenger flights going from Papua New Guinea to Australia will be suspended, as the island nation struggles with its mounting coronavirus crisis, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Wednesday.

"Starting at midnight tonight, we will further reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission from Papua New Guinea to Australia by suspending passenger flights from Papua New Guinea into Cairns," he said.
