Kazakhstan has terminated the negotiation with AstraZeneca as concerns over the safety of the vaccine mount, a senior official said Wednesday.

The senior official in the Ministry of Health added that it is now in touch with Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac and Johnson & Johnson for potential procurement.

Kazakhstan has introduced Russia's Sputnik-V vaccine and is mass-producing it in Karagandy.

A total of 76,000 citizens have been inoculated since the start of the vaccination drive on February 1.
