The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday recommended vaccination using the AstraZeneca shot to continue, saying the benefits of the vaccine outweigh its risks at this time.
Some EU countries have temporarily suspended the use of the vaccine amid growing concerns over blood clot disorders in persons who had received it.
The WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety is carefully assessing the latest available data for the jab and will immediately publicize the findings once the review is completed.
The WHO listed AstraZeneca and Oxford University's vaccine for emergency use last month, widening access to the relatively inexpensive shot in the developing world.
