When this relic was first discovered, archaeologists thought it was a golden belt. However, it was, in fact, a golden sceptre – the wooden rod inside had long since perished. Engraved on it are images of a man wearing a crown, a fish pierced by an arrow, and a bird. Experts believe it may have been owned by one of Sanxingdui's legendary kings.

Sanxingdui was a Bronze Age city that flourished 3000-5000 years ago in southwest China. Sanxingdui was the capital of the State of Shu, and is one of modern China's greatest archaeological finds.
