A face-to-face meeting is worth a thousand other forms of communication, said a Chinese scholar when commenting on the China-U.S high-level talks.

"Even though there could be some arguments and disputes, but it's very important that they meet face to face in the real situation," said Wang Huiyao, president of the Center for China and Globalization, on the sideline of the China Development Forum on Saturday.

The first meeting between senior Chinese and U.S. officials wrapped up on Friday in Anchorage, Alaska. The two-day dialogue marked the first substantial, in-person high-level contact between the two countries after U.S. President Joe Biden took office.

Both countries have realized that they have a global responsibility for fighting the pandemic and climate change, Wang told CGTN.

During the meeting, China and the U.S. decided to establish a joint working group to solve climate change, according to Chinese delegation to the strategic dialogue.

"There could be better outcomes, but at least we have some results on that," said Wang.
