Sanxingdui, an archaeological site in Guanghan City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, is believed to have been a capital of the ancient State of Shu. Back in 1986, more than 1,000 treasures were discovered in two sacrificial pits at Sanxingdui. Now, with six more pits being excavated, there are expectations of some exciting new discoveries being made. Lei Yu, the director of the Sanxingdui Site Workstation, shares his hopes for the latest excavations with CGTN's ICON. He shares he's looking forward to uncovering not only a large quantity of artifacts, but also some important ones that may fill in gaps in our knowledge of the history of Shu.
