Artifacts from the Sanxingdui Ruins in southwest China's Sichuan Province are considered one of the country's most significant archaeological discoveries. Unearthed from six sacrificial pits, the relics are believed to belong to a lost civilization, which had its own symbols and rituals and could date back to as early as the 12th century BCE. More than 30 institutions have participated in the latest round of excavation work, and some relics such as square bronze zun and ivory have been sent to an emergency protection room.
