At least six people were killed and another person was injured in Myanmar's Mandalay as the police force dispersed protesters from Sunday onwards.

Witnesses said military police used flash bombs during Monday morning's operation and shot a 20-year-old young man in the leg. They also stormed a local residential compound and removed roadblocks placed by some protesters.

Demonstrations have been staged across Myanmar following the military takeover in early February.
