Authorities in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have condemned sanctions announced on Monday by the European Union, Canada and the United States.  A spokesperson for the Xinjiang regional government said the sanctions were based on lies and violated the human rights of the Uygurs and other ethnic groups in Xinjiang. He said the sanctions aimed to disrupt stability and development in the region.
