The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Wednesday announced the suspension of COVID-19 vaccinations from a single batch of BioNTech shots over defective packaging.

The HKSAR government said the decision came after receiving a report from Fosun International Limited in Hong Kong indicating issues with packaging lids on batch 210102 of BioNTech doses and suggested suspending vaccination for safety concerns. 

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) also suspended vaccination from this batch.
