A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday slammed Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority for politicizing vaccine issues.
The DPP authority is playing up "Taiwan independence," "two Chinas," and "one China, one Taiwan" in the international community and will never succeed, said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
Zhu made the remarks in response to the DPP's claim that the mainland is using the vaccine issue to pressure Paraguay to cut ties with Taiwan.
"We have always advocated making COVID-19 vaccine a global public good," Zhu said, adding that practical actions such as support and help to countries in need of vaccines have been conducted.
"We are opposed to politicizing the vaccine issue," she stressed.
