The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, 11 from overseas and one domestic case registered in east China's Jiangxi Province, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Saturday.

Meanwhile, no new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported, the NHC said.

Twenty-seven new asymptomatic cases from overseas were recorded on the same day, and 270 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 90,159, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,439 (11,023 recoveries, 205 deaths)

Macao: 48 (48 recoveries)

Taiwan: 1,013 (973 recoveries, 10 deaths)
