Xinjiang's population increased by 13.9 percent to more than 24.8 million from 2010 to 2018, according to the regional government officials during a UK media briefing. Among them, the Uygur population expanded by over 25 percent to more than 12.7 million. The date shows the growth rate of the Uygur population is higher than that of Xinjiang's overall population, hitting back at claims of "genocide" and "forced sterilization".
