Three-year-old female panda Xiang Xiang, who has been adored by numerous visitors at Tokyo's Ueno Zoological Gardens over the years, will extend her stay in Japan and be returned to China by the end of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on Friday..

Xiang Xiang was born on June 12, 2017, in Tokyo and was supposed to be sent back to China when she turned two years old.

It is the second time that Xiang Xiang's return to China has been postponed.

When the pandemic is brought under control, the residents will be able to see Xiang Xiang at the zoo again.
