Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has replied to a letter from Raul Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, thanking them for congratulating China's complete victory in its battle against extreme poverty.
In the letter, Xi highlighted China's relationship with Cuba, saying that the two countries are good friends, good comrades and good brothers.
In recent years, the traditional friendship between China and Cuba has deepened, and friendly cooperation has developed in an all-around way, the letter said.
Noting that the two countries stood together and joined hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Xi also wrote about its significant impact on the friendship between the two countries.
The Chinese president also reiterated that China will continue supporting Cuba along its path to socialist development and vowed to push forward bilateral ties to a new stage.
In the letter to Xi, Castro and Diaz-Canel spoke highly of China's remarkable achievement in eradicating absolute poverty. The two leaders also reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to further developing a friendly cooperative relationship with China.
