A total of 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by China arrived in Nepal on Monday.

The batch of vaccines were developed by China's Sinopharm. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi and Nepal's Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Hridayesh Tripathi arrived at the airport in the capital Kathmandu to welcome the shipment.

"I would like to convey sincere thanks to the Government and people of China for the generous assistance of eight hundred thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccines as an additional grant provided to Nepal," Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli tweeted on Monday with a picture showing him and the Chinese ambassador at a vaccine handover ceremony.
