When the pandemic is used as a political tool in the U.S.
01:55

The U.S. leads the way in both the number of COVID-19 cases and mortality rate. The U.S. accounts for less than five percent of the world's population. But by January 2021, it accounted for 25 percent of the world's confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Twenty percent of the COVID-19 deaths were in the U.S., which means 500,000 Americans lost their lives. The infection rate for African Americans is three times that of white Americans, and the death rate twice that of white Americans. CGTN reporter Cen Ziyuan explains why she thinks the pandemic has been used as a political tool.
