The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress has deliberated draft amendments to how Hong Kong's leaders will be selected. Lawmakers reviewed Annex I and II of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The annexes concern the method for the selection of the region's chief executive and the method for the formation of the Legislative Council. The deliberations follow a decision adopted by the National People's Congress earlier this month to improve the electoral system of Hong Kong.
